Abstract: |
Objective:To investigate the clinical effect of acupuncture combined with an upper limb rehabilitation robot in the treatment of upper limb dysfunction after stroke. Methods:A total of 60 patients with stroke and upper limb dysfunction were divided into treatment group and control group using a random number table, with 30 patients in each group. The patients in the control group were given acupuncture and conventional rehabilitation training, and those in the treatment group were given training with the upper limb rehabilitation robot in addition to the treatment in the control group;the course of treatment was 2 weeks for both groups.Fugl-Meyer Assessment-Upper Extremity (FMA-UE) score, modified Barthel Index (MBI),and Brunnstrom stage were used for assessment before and after treatment. Results:Both groups had significant increases in FMA-UE score and MBI after treatment, and the treatment group had significantly higher FMA-UE score and MBI than the control group (P<0.01).After treatment, both groups had a significantly better Brunnstrom stage of the upper limb and the hand(P<0.01,P<0.05).Conclusion:Acupuncture combined with an upper limb rehabilitation robot can improve the motor function of upper limbs and the activities of daily living in patients with stroke and thus holds promise for clinical application and research. |
