Abstract:
Objective: To investigate the application of whole-course high-quality nursing care in patients undergoing chemotherapy in department of medical oncology. Methods: A total of 120 patients who underwent chemotherapy in department of medical oncology were enrolled and divided into observation group and control group using a random number table, with 60 patients in each group. The patients in the control group were given routine nursing care, and those in the observation group were given whole-course high-quality nursing care. The two groups were compared in terms of pain, mental status, quality of life, the incidence rate of chemotherapy drug extravasation, and phlebitis caused by chemotherapy drug extravasation. Results: After treatment, both groups had significant changes in Visual Analogue Scale score, Self-Rating Depression Scale score, Self-Rating Anxiety Scale score, and Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-General score, and there were significant differences in these scores between the two groups after treatment (P<0.05); There was a significant difference in the overall incidence rate of chemotherapy drug extravasation between the observation group and the control group [8.33% (5/60) vs 23.33% (14/60),P<0.05], and there was also a significant difference between the two groups in the incidence rate of phlebitis caused by chemotherapy drug extravasation [3.33% (2/60) vs 16.67% (10/60),P<0.05]. Conclusion: For patients undergoing chemotherapy in department of medical oncology, whole-course high-quality nursing care combined with the holistic view and syndrome differentiation-based nursing can alleviate pain, stabilize psychological state, enhance quality of life, and effectively avoid chemotherapy drug extravasation, which fully reflects the synergistic effect of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine nursing.
