| Abstract: |
| This article summarizes the academic origins and characteristics of the philosophy of “treating the disease by treating the person” held by Researcher Liu Bingfan, a renowned modern TCM scholar. Based on the classics of traditional Chinese medicine and the in-depth research on ancient medical canons, Dr. Liu emphasized a people-oriented approach in clinical practice and proposed a holistic perspective to harmonize Yin and Yang, strengthen vital Qi, and eliminate pathogens, with a focus on body constitution, emotions, and lifestyle management. For difficult diseases, he advocated the wisdom of “treating without interference” for syndrome differentiation and treatment and emphasized treatment aiming at its root causes and the importance of distinguishing manifestations from root causes. Furthermore, he excelled in the application of diet therapy and paid attention to the invigoration of the spleen and the stomach, the regulation of Yin and Yang, and the principle of “reinforcing organs with organs”, as well as dietary restrictions and recommendations to assist in treatment. His academic system integrates both ancient and modern wisdoms and emphasizes the combination of holistic principles with individualized treatment, which has important guiding significance for modern TCM practice and education. |
